Since 1983, the Pincus Fund for Hunger Relief has provided thousands of meals to Philadelphians in need.
About Us
Our History.
The Pincus Fund for Hunger Relief was founded by Irwin Nat Pincus in 1983 with the express goal of alleviating hunger in the Philadelphia region.
Originally called The Rabbis’ Fund, the name was later changed to reflect the way in which the Fund stewards support from the Pincus Family Foundation to assist local organizations with food purchasing.
Our Partners.
Partnerships with the Pincus Family Foundation and the Coalition Against Hunger ensure that local communities can access healthy hot meals or receive much needed pantry items.
Trustees also consult with local leaders to identify new funding opportunities, such as neighborhoods experiencing new challenges or emerging agencies within a particular cultural community.
Our Grantmaking.
Grants are made to approximately 50 organizations twice annually. Grants are made in the amount of $1,000.
Organizations who meet the reporting requirements may receive awards in consecutive funding cycles and years.
Trustees and collaborating partners help identify possible grantees. We are not currently accepting unsolicited grant requests.
“We are grateful for the support that Pincus Fund for Hunger Relief has given to our meal service program over the years.”
